High in vitamine A and surgar. Feed in moderation
Carrots can be detrimental to your guinea pigs’ health as it is rich in Vitamin A. They are also high in sugar, which makes them vulnerable to diseases, such as diabetes later in life. Besides, it hardly contains Vitamin C, which is beneficial for your guinea pigs. Instead of putting the entire carrot in a cage and letting your pets munch on it endlessly for a few days, simply chop normal carrots into bite-sized pieces similar to baby carrots. If guinea pigs consume carrots quite often, they will have too much vitamin A and sugar in their diet, which can manifest in some rather obvious side effects, such as diabetes, lethargy, soft or loose stools, and changes in appetite.
