Can my Guinea Pig eat Okra?

Updated: May 2

No, this is not recommended.

Okra is high in oxalic acid and can act as a mild irritant.

While it isn't poisonous, the oxalic acid content may stop your pet from absorbing important nutrients, and the sticky juice can act as an irritant to the mouth and digestive system.

Guinea pigs and rabbits should have a variety of at least 5 different types of leafy greens to protect against nutritional excesses and deficiencies. At least 80% of the diet should be a good quality grass or cereal hay.
