Can my Guinea Pig eat Beets (Beetroot)?

Updated: May 2

Yes, but very sparingly!

High in sugar, and will stain the pigs and enclosure!

Beets are notoriously high in sugar so feed in teeny, tiny amounts! They can be a good option for tempting unwell animals to eat if they've previously enjoyed beets

Guinea pigs and rabbits should have a variety of at least 5 different types of leafy greens to protect against nutritional excesses and deficiencies. At least 80% of the diet should be a good quality grass or cereal hay.
