Can my Guinea Pig eat Apple?
Yes, they can eat it up to 1-2 times a week!
Occasional treat - high in sugar. Apple seeds contains negligible amount of amygdalin, a substance that releases cyanide into the bloodstream when chewed and ingested. It is best to remove seeds, but don't panic if you miss one.
A healthy treat option that most pets love, and great for using in food puzzle toys! Apple juice and apple puree can also be used in small amounts, such as when giving medication.
Guinea pigs and rabbits should have a variety of at least 5 different types of leafy greens to protect against nutritional excesses and deficiencies. At least 80% of the diet should be a good quality grass or cereal hay.
